WORLD SCIENTIFIC

World Scientific Publishing is an publisher of scientific, technical, medical books and journals headquartered in Singapore. The company was founded in 1981. World Scientific has been publishing online since 1996, including e-journals, e-proceedings, e-books, and operates an online bookshop.

BAKERZIN

Previously known as Baker’s Inn, Bakerzin started out in 1998 as a small patisserie located off Sembawang Road, Singapore. Today, the company is a major restaurant chain in Singapore, even expanding into neighbouring Indonesia.

CHARLES AND KEITH

Charles & Keith was founded by brothers Charles & Keith Wong. They opened their first store in 1996 in the Amara Shopping Centre, Singapore. In 2013 they had 300 stores worldwide, including locations in Africa

TIGER BEER

Tiger Beer was made in 1932, making it Singapore's first locally brewed beer. It has performed well in numerous beer tasting competitions. It's catchy slogan "Time for a Tiger" has even inspired a book of the same name.

BEE CHENG HIANG

Bee Cheng Hiang was established in 1933. It opened its first shop after the Japanese Occupation along Rochor Road. It was also one of the first companies in Singapore to do mobile advertisment by placing the Bee Chang Hiang brand on trucks.

TREX 2000 (THUMBDRIVE)

Trek 2000 International was a family-owned business until 1995, when it was bought over by current CEO Henn Tan. In 2000, it invented the USB thumbdrive, though other companies claimed to have invented it first.

CREATIVE TECH

Creative Tech began as a computer repair shop where founder Sim Wong Hoo developed memory boards for the Apple II. The company expanded and went on to develop the Sound Blaster sound card. It also produces headphones and e-dictionaries.

NEWATER

NEWater was created in 2002 after decades of research in a bid to allow Singapore to be self-sufficient in terms of water usage. It exceeds WHO standards for "clean" water and has been looked up to by other countries facing water shortage.

SPH

Singapore Press Holdings Limited was formed on 1 January 1984 through a merger of three organisations, The Straits Times Press, Singapore News and Publications Limited and Times Publishing Berhad. The Staits Times Press was formed in the 1840s. SPH publishes newspapers in Singapore's four official languages.

PRIMA FLOUR

PRIMA Flour Mill was established in 1961 during Singapore's modernisation and industrialisation drive. Since then, it has become one of the biggest flour companies in Singapore under the leadership of its President, Mr Cheng Tsang Man.
